Year 9/10 Robotics

Students have continued work on their Lego Mindstorm robots and have now been able to add input! Our robots are now remote-controlled; avoiding obstacles, and even wishing us a good morning when the sun comes up!

Unit 1 Systems Engineering

The Unit 1 Systems Engineering class has been learning all about mechanical components and systems, from simple machines up to compound gear trains. Last week they learnt all about levers and linkages and practiced making some of their own linkages using online simulation software and Lego.

Year 7 Systems Technology

The Year 7 Systems Technology classes have been learning about simple machines and forces. They applied their knowledge of levers, gravity, and air resistance - and their understanding of the design process - to plan, build, and test popsicle stick catapults!

Year 8 Textiles

Year 8 have been working hard this term to investigate and design ideas for a soft toy for a local charity. At the end of the term all the toys that year 8 have made will be donated to our linked charities - Each and Uniting. 

8A Textiles have been working on the following skills:

• Investigating indigenous textiles 
• Generating design ideas
• Creating templates 

We are super excited to see the final toys. Here is their work so far, and stay tuned for photos of the end products later in the term. 

Year 9&10 Fashion and Products

Students in this elective have been working on a range of skills to support their individual projects. 

• Sewing machine test – accuracy and control 
• Joining methods – Seams and neatening of seams 
• Designing – digital design options using CAD

We can’t wait to see what their product look like at the end of the term - in the mean time here is some of their work in progress:
