SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS

Thank you to the parents who have paid the essential items, which are owing to the school for all the materials the children have already received at the start of the year.

For those that haven't contributed yet, we would greatly appreciate if you could make a payment ASAP as the school has already paid for these items and reimbursement of these funds will allow us to purchase other equipment and items around the school.

Thank you also to those families who have made voluntary donations and donations to our tax deductible funds. We have aspirations to create through our master plan wonderful grounds and play spaces for the children.

NAPLAN

The National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for Years 3 and 5 students will be held this year in March, beginning on Wednesday 15th. This is a national test that gives a snapshot of each student’s ability in Literature and Numeracy compared to all other students in the same year level around Australia. NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in Writing, Reading, Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy.

The results of the tests provide information for students, parents, teachers and principals which can be used to improve student achievement.

THE RESILIENCE PROJECT

We are excited that as part our involvement with the Resilience Project on Wednesday 29th March from 6:30pm - 7:30pm we have a parent presentation.

Hugh will be delivering his flagship ‘Discovering Resilience’ presentation to your community. Through his high-energy humour and captivating storytelling, Hugh will share simple, practical tips we can use everyday to improve our wellbeing.

The ‘Discovering Resilience’ presentation helps do just that by sharing those same evidence-based strategies being taught in the classroom, so they can be also practised at home and beyond. Attendees will also be reminded of the importance of their own wellbeing - we bring the best versions of ourselves to our family and community, when we make time to look after ourselves.

Parents and Carer will need to register for the webinar using the following link:

Please see the attached flier for more information.

THE FATHERING PROJECT

In 2021 we introduced The Fathering Project to BPS, I am really excited to continue this project and last Sunday we had an amazing day of lawn bowls-  thank you to the organising committee for their work.

The Fathering Project aims to improve child development outcomes by inspiring and equipping fathers and father figures to effectively engage with their children.

The Fathering Project delivers resources, programs and events specific to the engagement style and needs of dads and father-figures.

Why directly target fathers and father figures?

  • We know that an effective father has a profound impact on the health and wellbeing of a child.
  • Children do better in school when their fathers are involved in their school, regardless of whether their fathers live with them or live apart.
  • Children whose fathers participate in school activities, meetings and events also enjoy school more, are less likely to have behaviour issues and are more likely to participate in extracurricular activities.

BPS Social Media

Don't forget to check out our school Social Media pages. There is always lots of exciting things posted which gives a nice insight into the happenings around the school.  Click the link below to find our pages.
