From the Senior School

It has certainly been a week of highlights and I have been incredibly proud of our student body.

Our annual Scholars’ Assembly was held on Monday and is a very special occasion to acknowledge the academic achievements of our students.  Our Scholars’ demonstrated commitment to their studies and their hard work and dedication has paid off. All students were encouraged to strive for excellence in their studies and were reminded that education is a valuable investment that will pay dividends for their whole life. 

Guest speaker, Dr Jessica Barnes from the Class of 2012, passed on four key tips:

1. Don’t reinvent the wheel
2. Back yourself
3. Don’t lose your mojo 
4. Nothing good is ever easy. 

Dr Barnes’ career pathway has not been straight forward, but she kept her eye on the goal and is now a doctor of women’s health and doing what she loves.  This is a link if you would like to watch the recording of the 2023 Scholars’ Assembly

Our Senior School swimming carnival was a great day (and not just because Young House won). Our students displayed remarkable swimming skills as well as courage, determination and sportsmanship. This is the College and House spirit. 

I wish our Junior School swimmers all the very best for their House carnival on Friday.

Academic success and co-curricular involvement often go hand in hand. It is vital that our students maintain a balance between their academic studies and their co-curricular involvement to achieve their full potential.  Our student’s participation in sport, drama and music helps develop important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, resilience and determination. I encourage all students to try new and different things, and to follow their passions.
