FRENCH EXCURSION TO THE FRENCH PROVIDORE IN MOORABBIN

Our Year 10 French students have been keen to develop they Listening and Speaking skills, while going to the French café in Moorabbin.

Guillaume, the owner, has been very welcoming with heaps of French pastries hot from the oven such as croissant, pain au chocolat, croissant aux amandes, pain suisse, abricotine, financier and chouquettes (French puff pastries), covered with sugar grains.

After having tasted all these French specialities with a hot chocolate, students were able to practice the interrogative form and try to understand the answers.

Look at some students ‘comments:

Lily:  The food was very buttery and delicious. The café had a very soothing, and comforting ambience. It was really enjoyable and I would definitely take my mum.

Monique :  I really enjoyed the hot chocolate, and the pastries were really yum. It was a good experience to know what ordering in French was like. We had a lot of fun!

Anni: We went to a French café in Moorabbin called The French Providore. We experienced ordering in French and also got to taste delicious traditional French pastries. We had lots of fun!!

Irene I liked eating all the different pastries and they were very yummy and I'd go get them again!

And finally Harvey:

"I really enjoyed the challenge of trying to communicate in French to order food. The food was delicious, I had a drink and two pastries and would recommend stopping by if you were nearby to try something. After eating, we got to ask the owner many questions about any and all things France related. His insight was very interesting and I feel I have learnt a lot. Thanks."

YEAR 11 FRENCH FILM FESTIVAL

On Thursday 23rd of March, Year 11 French students were treated to a special excursion to celebrate the world of modern French cinema by attending the annual Melbourne French Film Festival.

“Ténor” was a hit with both students and teacher. It tells the story of an aspiring young rapper from the suburbs of Paris who meets Mrs. Loyseau, an eminent teacher at the Paris Opéra. Stunned by the young man's raw talent, she introduces him to the world of opera, which will bring deep emotion to his life.

The film provides an insightful platform for exploring the concepts of youth, family and friendship as part of our students’ French program in class.

Afterwards we headed to ‘La Parisienne Pâtés” on Toorak Road to enjoy the ambiance of a French café and students had the chance to order their lunch in French.

We hope that this yearly outing will help our students develop a lifelong interest in French culture and language.

The French Film Festival is in cinemas until 5 April for anyone interested in going along. The festival schedule can be found here: https://www.affrenchfilmfestival.org/schedule/melbourne
