Assistant Principal Report Senior School

Senior School News April 2023

Another busy term has come to an end.  I hope students enjoy a break of the Easter period and are able balance some rest, recreation and study time during the holidays.

Year 12 camp is running this week at The Summit, Trafalgar East.  I’m looking forward to spending some time with the year 12s as they tackle the challenges of camp and enjoy some time together.  Running in conjunction with this is the Year 11 Futures program. This is an important program with for our year 11 students to engage with issues which are relevant to them at the moment and for their future beyond secondary school.

Year 10 students have settled into W-Wing as their new ‘home’ at school.  It has been much better having students’ lockers all together in a dedicated space with a hub for Learning Journeys and tutor group.  It is important that this space fosters a greater connection to the school and that physical space is respected so it is a positive and productive space for learning.

Thank you to all parents and students who were able to engage with the recent senior school parent/teacher interviews.  It is important that students reflect on the feedback provided by teachers at these interviews with the view for improving performance across term 2.

Term 2 promises to be another positive Parkdale term full of events such as Year 12 Formal, Year 11 Careers Expo, Year 10 and 11 Exams, Year 10 Work Experience and the General Achievement Test for all students studying a unit 3/4 subject and our Senior Vocational Major (VCAL) students.  I will be out of the school for term 2 and Mr Jamie Cumming will be in the position of Assistant Principal while I’m away. I hope everyone has great term and I look forward to seeing you all term 3.
