Staying safe and healthy

Dear families,

It’s been a challenging period for our school community but everyone has done an amazing job of navigating through this tough time.

I have recently attended a seminar discussing the COVID vaccines with the aim of easing any concerns and hesitations around getting the vaccine. I thought I would share some information with you that I found comforting surrounding the vaccine.

I know there has been a lot of concern around the safety of the vaccine. Was it rushed? Has it been tested enough? Were steps skipped?   I agree these concerns all ran through my mind as well but the course I attended last week really explained the process and eased my concerns.

Basically in short, no steps were skipped they were merely overlapped. So with a normal development of a vaccine there would be a big gap between each phase mainly due to waiting for funds, approval etc. But due to the worldwide push to get this vaccine created money and resources were no issue.  The picture below shows the different stages and how with a normal vaccine development the stages would be spread out compared to a vaccine developed in a pandemic where the stages overlap to ensure no time is wasted.

Watch this short video where the experts can explain the process a lot better than me!

Finding the internet and social media overwhelming when it comes to opinions surrounding the vaccine? Who do you listen to? Who knows best? Here are a series of short easy to understand videos where all your vaccine questions are answered by the professionals who really have the greatest understanding of the vaccine.

Hope you are all keeping well and looking forward to seeing everyone back onsite

Stay healthy & safe
