Learning in J09

Junior School J09 Dougall is sharing the learning taking place in their class…

As the term draws to a close, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate not only the students but the parents on their dedication and commitment throughout this term.  While it didn’t go quite as we had planned, it has been great to see the positivity of The Springs community.

This week in J09 we have been focusing on poetry.  We have turned rhyming poems into dioramas to make Rhyme-Oramas, and use descriptive words in our shape poems. 

In Maths, we have been problem-solving and demonstrating different strategies we can use for solving addition problems. 

In Reading, we have continued to explore the more complex alphabetic code, looking at ‘r’ controlled vowels and sounds that can be represented by more than one spelling option. 

Inquiry has seen us venture ‘out of this world’ as we explored how the sun and moon affect weather, seasons, animals and humans down here on earth as well as checking out some interesting facts about space travel! 

I would like to wish all the students and families a safe and relaxing holiday!
