School Council Update

Hello Mackellar community,

Fantastic and exciting news!  Mackellar Primary School has developed, and is now launching, its new school vision:

'Empowering Global Citizens'

This vision is the culmination of many months of work by the staff and council at the school, and marks an exciting new phase in our school's journey.

The visioning process commenced way back in February when we asked you in our community to complete a survey indicating how we were progressing against a range of measures. Staff and students did the same and from the results we wrote ourselves a report card.

That report card was the impetus for the next step in our journey which involved envisioning what we wanted our school to be.  We spent many months working with staff through workshops with our critical friends in Associate Professor Joan Conway and Professor Dorothy Andrews from the University of Southern Queensland.

These workshops provided a fantastic opportunity for all staff to reflect on their time and experiences here at Mackellar, and also dream of the possibilities for what could be in store in the years to come. Throughout the process we were very cognisant of the need to respect the past whilst also charting a vision for the future.

Over the coming weeks and months this vision will become more and more prominent throughout the school. The vision complements the wonderful school values we have in place and will shape the manner in which we deliver curriculum for many years to come.

I would like to acknowledge the hard work of the staff throughout this process, in particular those on the IDEAS School Management Team (ISMT) namely:

Anthony Michielin, Brenda Elliott, Gemma Matias, Kerrie Elsbury, Meghann Wurm, Sally Wilson, Shelley Wockner, Simon McGlade, Tanya Lindsay-Clark and led so wonderfully by Stephanie Sousa.

Regards,
