Returning to onsite learning

Dear Parents,

As we make our back to onsite learning over the coming weeks, the staff are very keen to launch back into explicit teaching and making sure the last term of this year is a very productive one academically.

They are however also very aware that for the past eight weeks, our students have been very isolated from their friends, they haven't gathered in large groups and they have had limited opportunity to socialise and solve social problems. Staff recognise that students may encounter difficulties settling back into school life and will need time to adjust.

This is not unique to Mackellar and is a major focus for the Department of Education broadly.  As such the DET has provided a range of resources for staff to add to their 'tool kit'.

The DET has also provided resources for parents for the same purpose.  Attached are some resources you may find useful for your child/ren as they re-enter school life.

Please take some time to look over the various resources to see if any suit your family and their needs.  These are very well respected organisations who work with young children and families on sensitive issues such as mental health and wellbeing.

If you feel as though your child may require support with their return to onsite learning, your first port of call is of course your child's classroom teacher.  Having done that if you still have concerns please contact me to see how we can assist.
