From the Principal Team

We have made it to the end of Term 3 and I am sure that many feel as I do – somewhat spent!

I hope the holidays provide our staff, students and families with some well-earned down-time for self, friends and family and an opportunity to prepare for the final school term which I am sure, as it always is, will be an absolute ‘block buster’, especially for our graduating class of Year 6.

We are very pleased for our colleagues in Regional Victoria that restrictions have eased and students are able to return to school and sincerely hope that Metropolitan Melbourne won’t be far behind in Term Four. In the meantime, it’s business as usual with the provision of our students’ Home Learning program and planning for a possible return, not only for Term Four, but also 2022.

Exciting News from our staff

The stork has certainly been busy, and Jess and Jarryd Akaruru are expecting a bundle of joy very soon. Jess had been part of our incredible Foundation team this year and we wish her all the very best!

Jess and Summa
Jess and Summa

Fortunately for Great Ryrie, we have been able to source the expertise of Summa Routledge who will be teaching Foundation for the rest of the year. Summa comes to us with a wealth of experience in other school settings, and she has been working in the school as a casual relief teacher. Summa is also a parent in our community to the beautiful Hugo, Ted and Lottie. Welcome Summa, we are so lucky to have you as part of our team.

.........more baby news

We would like to congratulate Emma and Will Beddome on the safe arrival of their beautiful baby boy Hamish Jack born on Thursday the 17th of September.

Footy Day

Thanks to Mrs. Proctor for organising the virtual footy sessions this week. There was so much excitement from the children even though my beloved Tigers have gone to hide back in the jungle this year!

Good luck to both Melbourne and the Bulldogs in the Grand Final. I must say I have a bit of a soft spot for the Bulldogs as Adam Treloar was a former student of mine at Dandenong North Primary School.

On the other hand it would be so exciting for the Melbourne Football Club to win a flag after so long.

Term 4

We will let you know as soon as we know the plans for Term 4.

At this stage we are planning for both scenarios. We will communicate with you via compass when the Premier makes announcements in regards to schools.

Team Kids will also be running a Holiday Program if you need care during the break.

Take Care and hopefully the weather enables us to have some lovely picnics with family and friends  (within the COVID guidelines of course)
