Remote Lunchtime

Activities

On 29-30 November, the Koonung chess team competed in the national finals against 27 other schools who all qualified through their state championships for the biggest interschool tournament of the year. There were over 180 participants from Years 7-12.

We played seven rounds over the two days, with strong performances from the whole team, bringing us to 9th overall, which is an amazing follow-up from our 5th place in the Middle Years tournament last year with just Years 7, 8 and 9. Our whole team did extremely well, James Lonnen and Tehmi Harding scored 3/7, Ashton Lonnen scored 4/7, Henry Jackson scored 4½ out of 7, and I scored 6/7, coming equal second individually.

A huge thanks to Ms Arnold and Mr Cantwell for checking up on us throughout the two days. We hope to see even more people at chess club on Friday lunchtimes next year.
