Year 7 Japanese
It has been so great to have all the students back at school this term. It has meant we have been able to do our regular Year 7 activities in class such as games, blooket, calligraphy, animal books and more.
‘My Pencil Case’ Assignment
Students learnt stationery items, colours and describing things in Japanese this term so their assignment was to create their own ‘Youtube’ like video introducing their pencil case in Japanese. We found lots of videos on Youtube of Japanese people introducing their pencil case and used this as inspiration. There were some outstanding videos and students won prizes for things like ‘best costume’, ‘most entertaining’, and ‘most outstanding’ presentations.
Japanese Calligraphy
Every year students have the chance to do Calligraphy in Japanese and practise their Kanji skills. Kanji is one of the alphabets of Japanese and is similar to Chinese characters. We watched a documentary in class about the significance and uses of calligraphy in Japanese culture and then practised writing many significant Kanji characters such as ‘Peace’, ‘Life’ and ‘Protect’. This was part of our Kanji revision for the year.
