Design the 2022 EDSC Library Bookmark

The Library wants you to design our official 2022 bookmark!

Students can create a handmade or digital design. Your design must:

  • Be sized 206mm x 56mm.
  • Your background should go right to the edges. Any text or important graphics need 3mm of ‘bleed’ space at the edge (they should fit inside the size 200mm x 50mm).
  • Digital designs should be 300dpi. You can use the templates on Compass and the Library website for guidance.
  • Handmade designs can be photographed or scanned and emailed - and if they win, we will organise a high-quality scan of the artwork for printing.
  • Designs must be one sided only. You may sign your name on the design if you like.
  • Designs must include the words ‘EDSC Library’ somewhere.

Designs should be emailed to library@eastdonsc.vic.edu.au by 4pm on Friday 29th October. You can enter more than once.

The Library will have bookmarks of the winning design professionally printed, and provide these free to students in the Library throughout 2022. The winner will also receive a $20 prize voucher.

eBooks and movies for school holiday entertainment

Students can continue to use the EDSC Library during school holidays by borrowing eBooks and audiobooks from the Sora library app.

Sora allows all of EDSC’s eBooks and audiobooks to be accessed easily on devices anytime, anywhere, making it perfect for school holiday reading.

It is also a fun way for students to track their reading stats and earn badges.

Sora can be accessed online at soraapp.com or can be downloaded to phones from app stores. Instructions on how to use Sora are available on our Library website.

The Library website also offers a wide range of

movies and TV shows to stream which are ideal for school holiday viewing.

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now closed

Congratulations to all the EDSC students who took part in the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge. The Challenge is now closed for 2021.

EDSC students read and reviewed more than 2,500 books! We were so impressed by the number of students who actively participated in the Challenge by reading a range of books and writing excellent reviews. A special mention must go to our Year 7 students who put in a huge effort.

In Term 4, the Library will announce the Year 7 and 8 classes who won the pizza party prizes for reading the most books. We will also announce prizes including books and/or vouchers in the following categories:

  • Top reader in the school
  • Top reader in each class (Year 7&8) – one winner selected
  • Best book reviewer (Year 7&8)
  • Best book reviewer (Year 9&10)
  • Librarian’s Choice for effort – three winners selected
  • All students who complete the VPRC (Year 7-10) – one winner selected in each year level
  • All students who enter at least 5 books (Year 7&8) – two winners selected

Congratulations also to these students who have recently completed the 15 books required to receive a certificate from the Victorian Premier:
