Visiting musicians in Term 1

Lachlan Davidson

Next Tuesday the Stage Band will welcome saxophonist and composer Lachlan Dividson who is visiting to work with our girls in their preparation for the Generations in Jazz competition in Mt. Gambier in May. The Stage Band is actually playing one of Lachlan's original compositions called "Sunshower" so it will be great to get the composer's insights into how he thinks the piece should be performed. Lachlan is a leading jazz musician and educator in Melbourne and is much sought after by schools as he has a wealth of performing and composing experience.

Mal Webb and Kylie Morrigan

On March the 11th  our Year 9s will be treated to  a performance and workshop by two of the most versatile and entertaining musicians in Australia. Mal (trombonist, multi vocalist, beat boxer, etc.) and Kylie (violinist, singer and quite often both at once!) create a show that I guarantee none of our students have ever heard or seen before. This show really opens our girl's eyes to how performance can be expanded way beyond the concert platform to encompass technology, humour, virtuosity and versatility. Every time I watch them perform I learn something new.

Year 7 Choir

The Year 7 choir has had their first rehearsal on Monday with 18 keen singers turning up and making some lovely sounds together. It is certainly not too late for any student to join as we will be recruiting on Year 7 camp as well. This is a great way for girls to get to know other students. The choir is already made up of girls from 8 different primary schools! If your daughter is interested she needs to be brave and come along to KM06 next Monday at lunchtime and join us.She will be most welcome.
