Nursery October Newsletter

Hi Families,

We have been able to focus on singing rhymes for children, routines and play , exploring indoor and outdoor activities , helping children to build our relationships and bonds. This month we are focusing on sensory experiences in the room which is our ongoing project.

Programme initiative:-

Seven areas set up this moth:

Literacy and Numeracy Books are provided for the children to read and explore.  They not only see pictures and letters but learn how to hold the book and turn the pages.

Animal’s books seem to be the favourite for children at this time.

Dramatic and Imaginative Environment

Indoor: -   We provided children with more musical instruments as children seem to enjoy making sounds and listening to educator to sing songs.

We added a home corner for dramatic play and role play.  It helps children develop social skills and allows them to explore the food, utensils and other equipment.

Community

We continue to ask our beautiful families to bring their family photo in so we can display in our nursery room.  This helps create a sense of belonging for the children.

We have been using left over water from our drinks to feed the plants.  Educators help the children to pour the water  which helps develop their coordination skills and of course is important part of being sustainable.

Sensory Environment

Indoor: -

Educators added a mirror shelf to the room for the babies to find their reflection and discover their facial expressions.  We added some sensory soft blocks onto the mirror shelf giving them more sensory experiences to engage with.

Construction Environment

Educators added more building blocks in the construction area for children to develop their building skills and confidence. It allows them to learn to balance and control items.  They enjoy watching the blocks fall down and laugh when it happens.

Exploratory, Investigative and Discovery Environment

We set up cars and trucks on mat with different types of car and trucks to explore.  The babies are learning to push them along the floor.

Creative Expression :- Children are continuously offered painting, pasting and stamping.

We have been focusing on a quite a few areas such as Diwali and Halloween.  Through arts and crafts activities, the children are exploring colours, textures and patterns.
