Ms Drechsler's Year 11 Biology Class

Science at Open Evening 2019

I am writing to say how proud I am of the following students represented the Science department on Open Night this year. Aishwariyalaksmi Subramanian (Yr 12), Alma Goldberg (Yr 12), Jules Seater (Yr 10), Riley Adams (Yr 10), Lauren Kemp (Yr 10), Teresa Nguyen (Yr 10), Blake Jensen- Muir (Yr 8) and Sebastian Hall (Yr 7) were absolutely exceptional!!! These students led most of the experiments and activities, engaged the prospective students and answered parent questions about their school experience. They were outstanding! Congratulations and many thanks to you all!

I would also like to take the opportunity to acknowledge our dedicated Science staff members who volunteered to participate in this night. Thank-you to Ms. Alla Levitt, Mr. Chris Pacher, Mrs. Anat Kiviti Manor, Poppi Azzopardi (our lab tech) and Natasha Burgess (our lab assistant) for all your assistance in preparation and running of the experiments and activities!

Year 10 Biology

Students are currently working on DNA and genes in Year 10 Science. Students made a model out of licorice and jelly babies, this allowed them to visualise the double helix shape of DNA and reinforced the idea of complementary base pairing.
