ISA Cross Country Championships

The St Patrick’s Cross-Country Squad competed last week in the ISA Championships at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre in Horsley Park. There were several strong individual performances which resulted in the following:

Junior Shield 7th Place
Intermediate Shield 3rd Place
Senior Shield3rd Place
Aggregate Shield5th Place

Well done to the boys who received Championship medals on the day:

Jacob Kelava       3rd Place U12s
Bailey Leighton     1st Place U15s
Jonathan Meaker 1st Place U16s

Along with these three boys, congratulations are extended to Nikolai Kayrouz, Christian Caristo, Joe Doran, Thomas Brennan, Harry Richardson, and Matthew Ibrahim who finished in the Top 10 of their respective age groups and as such, were selected to represent the ISA at the upcoming NSW CIS Cross Country Carnival.

A big thank you must also go to Mr Thomas Mackie, Mr Ross Angelatos, and Old Boy Declan Moore (Class of 2019) for all their hard work in training and preparing the squad for this season. Well done to all.

End of Term and Training

This weekend will be the last round of fixtures before the holiday break; however, training will continue up to and including Week 9 as we are only midway through the season. Coaches will endeavour to keep training sessions meaningful and engaging for all students given there will be five weekends before the boys play their next fixture.

There are developing plans for some holiday training sessions to take place in the last week of the break (5 July – 10 July). More information will be provided to families next week regarding any holiday training sessions that are organised. Please note there will not be any training on Friday 11 June as it is Founder’s Day and students will be finishing early on that day. Training will not take place on the Queen’s Birthday public holiday, Monday 14 June.

Congratulations

I take this opportunity to acknowledge and congratulate Archer Gray, Year 10 who was recently selected by Cricket New South Wales as part of the U17 NSW Metro Academy Cricket Squad for the 2021/22 season.

The College also extends our congratulations to Mitchell Woods, Year 9 who represented the College as a member of the NSW CIS U15 Boys AFL team. Mitchell proudly led the side as captain. The team finished runners-up in the three-day tournament held in Albury last week. Not only was Mitchell named Player of the Tournament, but he was also named in the NSW AFL Merit Team.

Well done to the St Patrick's Rugby Fraternity on their performance last Saturday in the opening round of the ISA Competition against St Stanislaus’ College. St Patrick’s won the ‘Mark McFadden Memorial Shield’ which is contested between the two schools across the age groups in all A and B fixtures. Out of the possible 10 fixtures played, we won seven matches, drew one and lost only two. St Patrick’s reclaimed the shield for the first time since 2014. Congratulations and well done to all teams involved.

Basketball Development

The College is fortunate to have some Old Boys and Basketball coaches who will be running skills sessions for the last two Tuesday mornings of this Term. This will no doubt assist our boys as they prepare for the next summer season. Details are listed below:

SPC Skills Session

Dates:              Tuesday 8 June and Tuesday 15 June.

Time:               Commencing at 7:00 a.m. and concluding at 8:10 a.m.

Venue:             SPC Gymnasium

Basketball Training Camps

The College would also like to make parents/carers and students aware of an opportunity for students to work with a number of our leading external coaches during the holidays by taking part in the N1DP Holiday Camps. These skills sessions are designed to further develop our Basketball players for the 2021/22 season. It is important to note that attendance is not compulsory and will not have any bearing on the College’s selection process prior to the commencement of the 2021/22 season. These camps are not run by the College. Flyers for the camps can be collected from College Reception.
