Principal's Message

Dear Parents,
Congratulations to Luke and Ebony Hewitt on the arrival of their gorgeous little girl Mackenzie on the 6th May. We look forward to welcoming Mackenzie to our St. Joseph's community and wish Luke and Ebony all of the best and know they will be wonderful parents.
The Prep Bundjil nest excursion was a fantastic day for our Prep community. We have been involved with the project for a number of years and the inclusion of deep learning about our first people is just so important. Thank you to Julie Morgan and the Prep team for supporting our students on the day.
The Mothers Day celebrations on Friday were full of positivity. It was such a show of the power, love and influence all of our mums, grandmas, aunties, and all the special people in our community have on the people in their care.
A huge thank you to Matt for his brilliant work in the cafe and to Kerry for all of her great organisation for the event. Also to Peter, Anne- Marie, Megan, Liv, the cafe students and anyone else who assisted on the day. Thanks also to the 1/2 students and to Peter Whyte for leading a wonderful Mothers Day Mass. Congratulations to Amelia and Archie Clarke who were Baptised on Friday.
We also thank our guest speaker Sr Joan Power who spoke at our Mothers Day lunch. Sr Joan has been instrumental over many years in her leadership role in the Presentation Sisters order along with being Coordinator of Presentation Sisters Holiday Centre in Balnarring and the Presentation Wilderness Centre. The Presentation Family Centre at Balnarring is a wonderful centre supporting many disadvantaged and vulnerable people. We look forward to supporting the ongoing work the centre provides by offering our support throughout the 2021 year.
Our theme for week 4 of Term 2 is learning through encounters with others and living with resilience by taking responsibility for self. The tool kit element we are focussing on is Think, Feel, Act.
Please focus on sending your child to school in the correct school uniform. There are currently many students out of uniform wearing the incorrect socks, bright coloured headbands, runners on incorrect days and leggings under their sports uniforms. We are very proud of how we wear our St. Joseph’s uniform and I ask all parents to address any incorrect wearing of the uniform as soon as possible.
Our positioning statement for 2021 is “Soaring for Excellence!” We continue to have the highest standards of excellence in our school celebrating the unique learning experiences we offer at St. Joseph’s to ensure every individual reaches their full potential.
Finally, a special thanks to our school community from Valerie Tanner and family for all the support offered throughout this very sad time in their lives.
Yours in Partnership,
Gab Espenschied
