Junior Class - Mrs Creek

We are all excited that school’s back! A BIG THANKYOU for all my students who worked at home on their reading, writing and mathematics tasks. I really enjoyed reading your great story ideas from the picture prompts. Our shared story is called ‘Trip, Trap’. Can you guess from the title what fairy story it is about? The Year 1 students have come up with a list of adjectives to describe the troll. He’s angry, annoying, warty, green, hungry to name a few. And we have ALL trip-trapped across that bridge! Maths involves learning new words such as ‘subtract’, as well as ‘counting on’ when adding numbers.

Middle Class - Miss Williams

Thank you to everyone who tried their best to complete as much as the home learning packs as they could. It was great to see that we have had all but one pack return to our classroom. Well done, Middles! It was great to have everyone back again after a week away from school. We had some great discussion Monday morning about our week at home and even looked at some magnificent work, especially the poetry that was written last week. This week we have been looking at information reports in reading and writing. We have been reading a book called ‘Rockets, Planets and Outer Space’, and have been researching for our information reports about lions. In Writing the Year 2s have been working on doubles and near doubles for addition and subtraction, while the Year 3s have been working on fractions and learning what a denominator and numerator are. The Year 3s have also had a little look at some measurements using metres and centimetres to measure their steps.

Senior Class - Miss Walker

Back together again! Thank you to everyone who tried their best to complete their school work during remote learning. I enjoyed looking at the work that was returned and seeing some of your creative story ideas. For our focus text this week, we are exploring another myth. This time, ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’. We’ve been working on vocabulary and how using adverbs and prepositional phrases make a complex sentence. We’ve also discussed if myths are sometimes based on a little bit of truth.  In maths, we braved the cold and windy weather for some standing jumps and practised our measuring skills.

Little Joey

This week we continue to acknowledge the significant role of the "Brown Joeys" in the establishment of St Patrick's School, and recognised Max and Georgia with Little Joey awards.  Our Little Joeys receive a certificate, sticker and a voucher/goods donated by a local business.  This week's voucher was donated by Cambrelle's and Wimmera Bakery.  We are very grateful for the contributions from our local businesses.
