Walk to School Day - Friday 14 May

Dear Families and Friends,

Due to Tracey being on Long Service leave, the newsletter has been sent out early this week.

KILBREDA'S CLASS OF 2021

We thought you might like to see this gorgeous photo sent to us by Kilbreda College this week. What an outstanding group of young ladies.  They all look a little different than when they were in their St Brigid's Uniforms!

Well what a week…. We have been busy!

Our Year 4’s have been preparing for Eucharist, which is on this Sunday at 2pm at St Brigid’s Church. Looking forward to seeing our Year 4 families together to celebrate this special Sacrament.

We had an Evacuation Drill on Monday - the first for at least 2 years and I was very proud of our students. They listened and followed all instructions and behaved perfectly!

Year 6’s have gone to St Louis today for their Leadership Day - we were so lucky with the weather and they all enjoyed the day.

We have a Cyber Safety session via Zoom tonight of which 132 parents have responded which is a fantastic response. Looking forward to seeing your faces on the screen!

Tomorrow (Thursday) we have our Cross Country team competing at  Karkarook Park. Good luck to all our runners!

And on Friday our Year 5/6 ‘s are playing St Patricks in Interschool sports.

LOTE - Language other than English - Korean

As you are all aware, Che Soon Lee has retired which has left a gap in our Language program. I have advertised the position and unfortunately we have not been able to fill the position, Korean teachers are very hard to find.

After speaking to our School Advisory Board members on Tuesday night, we had a discussion on whether to keep Korean or move to a new language. We then had a discussion: if we were to change, would we change starting Term 3 (when we swap year levels) or start a new language in 2022.  I will be putting out a survey on Friday asking for some input from our school community. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS)

With our new governance structure we have to change our School Advisory Board name to School Advisory Council. Because we are an Advisory Board already we really do not have to change much in the way of the structure or operation of the board - it is just a name change. This name change has to be implemented by the end of the year. If you would like more information please come and see me or speak to our Council (Board) members.
