Year 11 Twentieth Century History and Australian Global Politics

This term students from both the Year 11 Twentieth Century History and Australian Global Politics classes went on an excursion to attend a Research Skills Seminar at  The State Library of Victoria.

Students began the morning on a private tour of the many collections, exploring the many hidden treasures before the library was opened to the public. They viewed the music and movie collections, the newspapers collections, the domed reading room and the art galleries. They also participated in a workshop that taught them crucial skills about sourcing reliable information and working out what could be 'fake news'.

Students then headed to The Shrine of Remembrance where they met a Vietnam War Veteran who gave them an exciting tour of the memorial. They were fortunate that this guide was able to share stories from his own experiences in this war, which was particularly important for the History students who are currently studying the Vietnam War.
