Creative Arts

Studying and learning about media creators and their creative style can help students understand more critically how the Media creators work from a concept, consider their audience, techniques they use to engage their target audience and narrative choices they make.  Unpacking a film director's style and how the director uses engaging techniques was the focus of Outcome 1 for the Unit 2 Media class.  Students were allocated a film director and researched their unique style and shared their findings with the rest of the class.

At the presentation, students had the opportunity to learn about pioneering directors such as Fritz Lang, Buster Keating and Charlie Chaplin, classic directors of old time Hollywood such as Orson Welles, Alfred Hitchcock, Sergio Leonie and John Ford, contemporary Australian directors such as Gillian Armstrong and Iven Sen and revered contemporary Hollywood directors such as David Fincher and  Wes Anderson.  Students have now formed production teams and will be celebrating one of these directors in their own productions.
