Principal's Update

On Friday 9 August, approximately 85 members of the College community including a number of Brigidine Sisters, students and staff both past and present, family and friends gathered in the Mary Dalton Hall for the second past Pupils of Distinction Dinner.

It was a very special occasion, at which we acknowledged and celebrated sixteen past pupils who were nominated by members of the community not only for being successful in their chosen career but more importantly for having made a positive difference in the lives of others.

The nominees were:

The Kilbreda College Community congratulates the

Morag Fraser AM

Doctor Mauricette Hamilton (née Duffy)

Kate Ingram (née Smyth)

Laura John

Doctor Rosemarie Joyce csb

Dr Bridie Kean

Katrina Leason

Angela Nolan

Beverley O’Callaghan (née Cullen)

Marcella Reiter (née McMahon)

Doctor Amy Swanson

These women have taken very different paths since graduating from Kilbreda but all have made a significant contribution to their chosen field and the community.  They embody the College motto of ‘Strength and Kindliness’ and are wonderful role models for current and future students.

The Stewardship Council had the very difficult task of selecting four of the nominees for induction as Past Pupils of Distinction for 2019.  After much discernment, the following nominees were selected:

Maggie Fitzgibbon OAM (Class of 1945)

Laura John (Class of 2007)

Doctor Bridie Kean (Class of 2004)

Katrina Leason (Class of 1977)

You can read about the each of the 16 nominees in the Past Pupils of Distinction Dinner booklet here

and view photos from the evening (Past Pupils page later in this newsletter).

One of the other highlights of the last fortnight was our senior school production!  Over 1800 people, which included approximately 390 students and staff from a number of our parish primary schools, delighted in what was a truly outstanding performance of Mary Poppins The Broadway Musical.  Congratulations to Director and Producer, Mrs Keryn Holden and all members of the production team who together with the cast and crew worked incredibly hard over the last six months to deliver a performance that as one audience member said would be "at home on any West End stage!"   I was incredibly proud of the staff and students involved! You can view the program, which names all involved here.
