Dante Alighieri Poetry Recitation Competition - Winners

I have great pleasure in announcing our two winners from our small group of 19 participants in this year’s Dante Alighieri Poetry Recitation Competition. Huge congratulations to Laura Mitchell who received second place in the Year 10 category and Sofia Bondarenko who received third place in the Year 11 Dante category of the competition.

Laura and Sofia were two of the seven finalists who were recalled to the finals on Thursday 18 July to recite their chosen poems along with 270 other students from all over Victoria, to decide the overall prize winners for each of the year level categories.

All First, Second and Third placed students have been invited to attend the Awards Ceremony at The University of Melbourne to receive their prizes on Friday 6 September along with their teachers and families. Certificates for all participants will also be distributed at the Awards ceremony and these will be presented to students at school.

Language Perfect World Championships

Each year Kilbreda enters the Education Perfect Languages Championships and 2019 is no exception.

For one week, from Tuesday 27 August until Tuesday 3 September, Kilbreda students will be battling against Japanese and Italian students from around the world for top places in the championship.

During competition week, Languages students are encouraged to use the Language Perfect programs as often as possible, reviewing vocabulary and grammar previously studied in addition to trying new tasks. In doing so, students accrue both personal points and points for the College. Both the Languages Room and the Library will be open for students to participate at lunchtime too.

The current Kilbreda record, held by Rebecca Ambler in 2015, is 35,210 points.  We challenge all the girls to see if they can beat this incredible record!
