Our Preps and their buddies welcome you to Open Day!
Week 4 Round-Up
Dear Families,
I trust our mums, grans and all the special women of our community enjoyed a relaxing and stress-free Mother's Day last Sunday. We're so very happy to hear that the class-made gifts were a hit, as the students and teachers had put a great deal of thought into this special treat for our mums.
What a treat to be able to spend Friday afternoon with a large group of mums, to enjoy a beautiful lunch and great company. Thank you to Karen and Tennille for organising the event, which seems to be growing in popularity year on year. This year's get-together was fully booked, so possibly onto a larger venue next year- but maybe not Marvel Stadium!
Congratulations to Noah (Y3), Monika, John and Harper on the birth of baby Fletcher William Wood, who arrived last Monday 3rd of May, just in time for Mother's Day! We send all the family our love and best wishes on their new arrival.
Our doors will be open on Monday morning to welcome new families to our school. This year we will be doing things a little differently, with our Year 6 students setting up information stalls around the school. Please pass the word on to friends who may still be undecided about school choice for next year. Open day begins at 9 am and concludes at 11am and families can pop in at any time within those hours. Alternatively, individual tours can be booked via our website: https://www.sjmalvern.catholic.edu.au/page/221/Book-a-Tour
I must say I felt very old when I read that the P+F 'Retro Night' includes the option of a 60s-90's dress-up!
We're very excited for the social event of the year, which will take place on Saturday 19th June in the gym at De La Salle, and not our school hall as previously advertised. Thank you to Principal, Peter Houlihan, for generously allowing us to use the gym for the evening.
Please check out the P+F page for more information on ticket sales and a request for raffle donations. This will be one of the major fundraisers for the year- with all proceeds going towards the construction of 'The St Joseph's Mini-Eco Village'.
Well done to all 60 students who represented St Joseph's at the Dendy District Cross Country event. We're so proud of how you represented our school and a special 'well done' to Gaby N and Annie for coming in the top 8 and progressing to the next level of the competition. Thank you to Ms Huebner for her organisation of the event and for her before-school training sessions. Thanks also to Ms. Birch for running these training sessions.
Great job team Joeys!
We encourage as many families as possible to join us this Sunday at 12pm, to complete several jobs around the school. Further details of the jobs that need to be done are on the working bee page, later in the newsletter. All children welcome!
Thank you to Miss B and her preps for the incredible assembly this morning. The children spoke so beautifully and projected their voices really well with the expert coaching of Miss B! Needless to say, there was not a dry eye in the house during the final presentation. Thanks Preps and it is hard to believe you have only had 60 odd days in school- amazing! (No pressure on Prep M, honest Miss M!)
Wishing you all a restful and relaxing weekend ahead and don't forget that next Friday is our whole school athletics day. Please ensure you have ticked the permission in operoo- the children are very excited!
