Designing our dream home

Last week we designed our dream home during Mathematics. At the start of the task we planned all of the rooms in the dream home such as a bathroom, master bedroom, toilet, dining room, living room and many more. We had to research on a website called realestate.com.au looking at lots of different ideas for our dream home. We measured all the rooms in our house and explained why we put the measurements on each of the rooms. We then calculated the area and perimeter of each of the rooms in the house. We also made a backyard and front yard. I spent time thinking about how big all my rooms should be and how big they are in real life. - Sully

Learning about Angles

In maths this week we have been learning about angles. We got to design our birthday cake and explore the angles in the cake. We use protractors to calculate the angles. In my cake I found lots of different angles including acute angles, obtuse angles, right angles and reflex angles.

Yesterday our maths session was based on angles. We went outside on an angle hunt around the school. Be begun our hunt at the synthetic basketball courts where we found lots of different angles. We then moved on to the playground and found even more angles. There was a variety of different angles everywhere including natural and man made angles. Some examples were: the cubby house roof (an obtuse/reflex angle), the race track (a straight angle), and the back frame of the basketball hoop (an acute angle). We also found some natural angels in trees and plants. We recorded the angles we found and estimated the measurements of these angles.
