4CE Compliment Game

On the 7th of May, Chloe, Katia and Elizabeth from the Media Pillar visited 4CE. Ms. Efron and her class explained the Compliment Game to us. The game involved kids talking one by one in a circle and complimenting each other.

The main purpose of the Compliment Game is to practice giving and receiving compliments, as well as complimenting different people in class. It’s really important to compliment people in the class because it makes the students and teachers feel special, happy and trusted. Playing this game gives a great atmosphere in the class room.

How the game worked was each student from 4CE  talked to the person next to them and compliment them. The person who was complimented would say thank you then it would go to the next person and repeat.

We asked some students of what they thought about the compliment game. Here is what they said:

“Sometimes I feel nervous or shy but once you get used to playing the Compliment Game you get more confident and better at complimenting each other.”

“The Compliment Game makes me feel happy because I get to hear what people really think about me.”

After playing a one round, we got the gist  of it and how amazing the game was! Here are some compliments  4CE students said to each other:

“You’re trying really hard this year and you’re really funny.”

“You’re a really good friend and you have a great personality.”

“You’re really nice to everyone and you’re very smart and funny.”

“You are a very nice friend and I like how you’re always ready to learn!”

Thank you to Ms. Efron for sharing this wonderful game with us. Why not try the Compliment Game at home or play it in your class! The students of 4CE enjoyed the game and learned new things about themselves. They also enjoyed giving and getting kind caring compliments.

Care Learn and Share Abstract Art

On Thursday the 13th of May, the CLaS groups did a drawing activity that the Art Pillar thought of. Everyone in the groups would each draw a random line or squiggle. We did a practice on the whiteboard and did a final copy on an A3 piece of paper. The rules were that you had to connect your line to one of the other lines or squiggles that had already been drawn and you couldn’t take the pencil or marker off the paper until you had finished drawing your line. The aim of this task was to create an abstract piece that was drawn by everyone in the CLaS groups.

A lot of the children really enjoyed this activity and wanted to do more pieces. This was unlike anything we have done this year and the students really liked that. Some groups let the kids have extra turns and let the kids draw more lines and squiggles on their second copy.
