Leavers' Jackets, Riding to School, Subject Selection
After an unavoidable delay, the Class of 2021 finally got the opportunity to collect their Class of 2021 Leavers’ Jackets. At the same time, students were allocated their ‘St Norbert College Class of 2021’ badges for them to wear with their uniform. Their arrival certainly put an extra spring in the step of our graduating class and as one student observed “I finally look like a Year 12 student”. As in past years, Year 12 students have been granted permission to wear their Leavers’ Jackets to and from school on Monday only. On the other week days, they are expected to wear their College Blazer to and from school and change into their Leavers’ Jacket at their locker. Leavers’ Jackets are not to be worn under the College Blazer and students must wear their College Blazer when attending formal College occasions such as liturgies and assemblies.
An increasing number of students have been riding to school in recent months which is an outstanding thing to see. Riding to school is great for the environment, it has a positive impact on student health and wellbeing and it helps develop independence and responsibility within individuals. When choosing to ride to school students should remember that wearing a bike helmet is requirement of both the school and the WA Police and it is best practice to lock your bike and helmet up at school when you arrive. Sadly there have been some incidents in recent weeks of people coming onto College grounds and attempting to steal student bicycles. By locking your bike when you arrive at school, students are ensuring the safety of their bike whilst they are in classes. Families might also want to consider registering student bikes with Bikelinc – this is a Police and community initiative to register bikes which, if a bike ever gets stolen, will help the process of tracking down and returning the stolen bike. You can access Bikelinc website through the following link: https://bikelinc.com.au/.
This week, Year 10 students were given their first introduction to the Year 11 Subject Selection process that help them to choose their future subjects and pathways into their final years at school and beyond. The presentation shown to students along with the Year 11 Minimum Entry Requirements are now available in the ‘Documents’ section of SEQTA. Students were taken through an overview of the process and given an outline of some of the key events over the coming months related to this process. These key dates are summarised below:
Year 10 students will commence their Semester One exams in Week 8 of this term. These exams will be an excellent opportunity for students to gain greater insight into their areas of academic strength and interest and hopefully help guide them towards choosing the best pathway into Year 11. I encourage all Year 10 students to spend the next 10 days preparing for their exams and I wish all Year 10 students the best of luck for this important round of assessments.

Thank you to the parents/carers and students who joined our first Camp Teams meeting online on Tuesday night. It was a great opportunity to find out more about the exciting plans for the Year 9 Camp commencing on Monday 28 June. I encourage families to begin preparing for the week and thank Miss Isard for her tireless organisation of the camp.
As the end of Semester One approaches, the process of future academic pathways and subject selection for 2022 begins. There are some important Year 11 events that are part of the subject selection process which are outlined below:
Year 11 students wishing to change subjects or pathways this year, need to make an appointment with Ms Rainford as soon as possible. Changes need to be made next week to avoid missing the start of Semester 2 work. This can only occur with teacher approval, room in the class and if the Minimum Entry Requirement is met.
Ms S Rainford
