Boarding

In the final week of Term Two I would like to thank all of the boarders and congratulate them on their success thus far. They can be proud in the way they have held themselves this term. Yet again, the ups and downs of adolescence are compounded by the unpredictability of COVID restrictions, planning and cancelling of events, and the interruptions to their sports, co-curricular and academic pursuits.
Thank you to all parents for your understanding and unwavering support of the boarding house and your son or daughter from afar.
On behalf of the boarding house team, I wish you a safe and relaxing break as a family once again and hope you are able to enjoy some downtime, and possibly a holiday!
I look forward to all boarders returning to the House on Monday the 12 July from midday.
Best wishes,
Andrew
New Boarding rugby jumpers
Well, it has been a long haul but we have finally reached the finish line. The creation of the Macdonald and Speirs House boarding rugby jumpers has come to fruition after three years and a team of six boarders taking charge. The initial idea was raised by Nikita Cavil and Jono Lee in 2019, with then Jackson Hodgetts and Cassie Drummond in 2020 completing the fantastic and collaborative work of the crest design, and then to select the colours and final design was Fergus Roberts and Emily Clarke this year. Thank you to all the boarders who have contributed, in particular our six designers. I am sure you will agree they look fantastic and they have been so popular a new order is soon to go out for more.
Crest design
The girls of the Macdonald House thought hard about how to show the close relationship they have with each other and that this connection continues after they depart the House. Their crest has a Celtic knot signifying the constant and enduring connection the girls have with other. The Chinese symbol represents friendship. Likewise, the boys wanted to recognise their strength in connecting with each other whilst the need to be courageous and fearless; they decided a wolf was best to represent their values. Again, the Chinese symbol represents friendship and respectfully acknowledges our international connection.
