Reading
“Reading is fundamental. It is one of the most important ingredients to becoming all that you can be.
Reading develops your brain, provides a window into the world around you and helps you do better in all school subjects.
Most importantly, reading not only helps you become a better student, but also a better person. You can learn from the brightest people whenever and wherever you choose….”
“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island.” – Walt Disney
“There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.” – Ray Bradbury”

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge
In the light of the above, well done to all students and families who have logged books. It is pleasing to see what is being read and recorded. Unlike last year, I can add books to a class as the College administrator. The only hitch at this point is that I cannot see any way to have the book I have added (which in this case is the book shared by all the Junior School students as part of National Simultaneous Story Time in May). As I go into each child’s account and verify it will appear on the list for your child. As you can imagine, this may take some time but it will happen!
In the meantime, please keep encouraging your children to read – even if you are not adding titles to the challenge.
Happy Holidays
Miss Welst and I wish all students a happy holiday. Some time to relax and be with family and friends is precious. For Year 12 and many of our Year 11 students it is a critical milestone as they move from Unit 3 into Unit 4 of their VCE. Needless to say, some studying is highly recommended for these upper year levels.
