Cross Country

Last Friday, under blue and smiling skies, a cohort of enthusiastic athletes set out for the shores of Lilydale Lake to participate in District Cross Country. With the support of loud and passionate cheering from the side of the track, our athletes ran hard and met with considerable success. As a college, we placed fourth overall, and many of our age groups finished high up the standings. On an individual level, both Kiara Flavel (10C) and Miah Beardshaw (8G) won their event, and Lily Cochrane (9A) and Teagan Studham (8G) also finished on the podium. Our athletes are now looking forward to competing at the regional competition taking place at Yarra Glen racecourse in early June.

Senior Boys Football

Our Senior Boys B team won all their games at the recent Senior Basketball Interschool Sports. Congratulations boys, a great day enjoyed by all.

Live VO2 Max/LIP Demonstration

On Wednesday the 12th of May Year 12 PE students had the opportunity to experience elite level testing during a live VO2 max and 30 second Wingate test. Students were then able to apply their knowledge of energy systems, LIP, Fatigue, Recovery and acute responses to exercise.

Kailan Graham reached a VO2 max of 59.6 ml/kg/min while Luke Brownbill, Natasha Lacsni and Alex Snoxell all preformed a maximal effort in the 30 second Wingate allowing students to see the contribution of the two anaerobic energy systems and fatiguing mechanisms.
