Catholic Schools Week

Last week we celebrated Catholic Schools Week. The theme this year was “Everyday Affirmation”. Year 7 participated in a Liturgy and wrote down what it means for each of them to belong to our Catholic community. They reflected on their time at the College so far and then focused on how they can affirm others and themselves by letting their light shine.

“You are the light of the World” Matthew 5:13-16

Catholic schools are learning communities, committed to excellence, where the dignity of each child is valued and respected. Mater Dei educates the ‘whole child’, through an all round education that nurtures each student spiritually, intellectually, socially and physically so that each student is able to flourish.

Buddies Leadership Program

Buddies Day is a family support program. Kids aged 5-12 participate in recreational activities (sports days, craft days, movies, Junee Licorice Factory outing and more) with a buddy. Mothers Day

Mother’s Day occurs in the month of May, in the traditional time for the recognition of Mary, the mother of Jesus. We hope the mothers and those with mother roles within our community, were celebrated with joyful love and gratitude on Mother’s Day. Let us ask our Mother Mary to guide us all to be people of peace, love and joy.

A Prayer for Mothers

We pray for mothers, who give life and count toes

and tend to our every need;

May they be blessed with patience and tenderness to

care for their families and themselves with great joy.

We pray for our own mothers who have nurtured and cared for us;

May they continue to guide us in strong and gentle ways.

We remember mothers who are separated from their

children because of war, poverty, or conflict; may they feel the loving embrace of our God who wipes every tear away.

We pray for women who are not mothers but still love and shape us with motherly care and compassion.

We remember mothers, grandmothers, and great-grandmothers

who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and

nourish us with their love. Amen
