Sorry Day & Reconciliation Week

National Sorry Day is an important day of remembrance that takes place every year on the 26th of May. National Sorry Day acknowledges and raises awareness of the history and continued impact of the forced removal on the Stolen Generations, their families and their communities.

National Reconciliation Week occurs from the 27th May to 3rd June with this year’s theme being More Than a Word. Reconciliation Takes Action. Over the next week, students and teachers across P-9 will be discussing and completing activities to learn more about how we can help achieve reconciliation. To learn more about taking action head to 20 Actions For Reconciliation in 2021.

To get involved and celebrate Reconciliation Week, students and families are invited to join the Little Long Walk after school on Monday 31st May. This event is free of charge and is open to Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.

As a school we are all still learning and encourage the wider Brookside College community to reflect and commit to learning more about our history, this week and beyond.
