Year 7-9 Sector

Year 8

Year 8s started the term strong with our beach camp to Waratah Bay in the second week of term. We had so much fun participating in activities such as the giant swing, low ropes course, rock climbing, beach games and of course the highlight- surf lessons. It was a great chance for everyone to have fun, time to build relationships and a chance to form new friendships after such a big year last year. Thank you all everyone who came along. I hope the students enjoyed it as much as their teachers did!

In other exciting news, we had our re-do grand final of cohort games lead by Mr. Ryan. After drawing in the last week of Term 1, 8F and 8B had their final battle for the cohort games trophy. A big congratulations to 8B who were too good on the day and took home the trophy for their class!

Coming up in year 8, we have our MCG on the 31st of May where students will complete "MCG history Tour" and take part in the Interactive sport Museum.

Looking ahead this year we will have a main focus on demonstrating our school value of respect throughout our cohort. We hope to work on this value and be respectful of others in all that we think, do and say.

FOOD TECH

Year 8s are producing dishes by including ingredients that are good sources of fibre, proteins and low fats. They interpreted recipe videos, created a customised recipe and modified the ingredients to add more wholegrains to their food.

“The cooking part was lots of fun”; “we enjoyed getting creative with our presentations”- were some of their responses.

Breakfast Club

Thank you to Cameron from Coles Cairnlea for supporting our Breakfast and Lunch Program with fresh fruits. We all at Brookside really appreciate your healthy contribution.
