Principal News

Greetings to our Brookside Community

As we pass the mid-point of Term 2, we take a look back and realise just what a productive term it has been already. Thank you to all of our students, staff, parents and guardians for all of your positive contributions and efforts so far this term!

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 who participated in NAPLAN testing, led brilliantly by our assistant principal Mrs. Brooke Gillis. Our students displayed a positive, can-do attitude towards NAPLAN and we are very proud of their displays of resilience throughout the week.

Education Week

With this year’s theme of ‘Building Connections’, we have celebrated Education Week at the college by inviting our parent/guardian community to come along and participate in numeracy and literacy sessions, learning alongside their children in the classroom. Our students thoroughly enjoyed showing off their skills to their parents and guardians, and displaying the progress they have made this year. A big thank you to our students, parents/guardians and teachers for making this week possible.

Year 7 Camp

Year 7 students recently attended a three day camp at Lake Dewar Lodge in Myrniong. The students had an action-packed camp, participating in various activities such as canoeing (with a few capsizes), orienteering, and loads of team building activities. Despite some less than ideal weather, the students remained resilient throughout and a great time was had by all. Thank you to the teaching staff who attended and thank you to Year 7 Leader Ms. Mel Casha for organising such an enjoyable camp.

2022 Enrolments

Enrolments for 2022 are now open. We are offering school tours for prospective families who are interested in enrolling their child/ren to our college. Information pertaining to enrolments and registration for school tours can be found on our school website.

COVID-19 Update

As announced by the state government, from 6:00pm Tuesday 25 May masks must be worn indoors. This applies to everyone 12 years and older and includes workplaces and schools, and will be in place until at least Friday 4 June.

  • It is expected that all staff and all students in Years 7-9 wear face masks indoors at all times. Please note that bandanas and scarves are not permitted, and face coverings must cover the nose and mouth.
  • There have been no changes in terms of density limits/physical distancing communicated to the College at this time. Therefore, unless otherwise advised, all excursions and school-based activities will continue as planned.
  • All visitors to the school must wear a mask when indoors, including parents/carers.

We will keep all members of our community updated as further advice comes to hand. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the College.
