YAKULT FACTORY

Year 12 Business Management Excursion

On Tuesday 11 May, Business Management students visited the Yakult factory in Dandenong as part of their studies into Operations Management.

While there, students were able to see how the operations of Yakult worked and make links to their Area of 3 studies into the use of various strategies to improve the business’ operations. These included technology, quality and materials strategies.

Students were also able to taste one of the two products that are made in Australia: Yakult and Yakult Light.

Yakult LIGHT is the reduced sugar version of Yakult with 40% less calories and less than 3g of sugar per bottle. Stevia derived from the Stevia plant helps to give Yakult LIGHT it's refreshing taste with less sugar.

The probiotic drink contains 6.5 billion bacteria from the Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain that was developed in Japan in the 1930s by Minoru Shirota, a microbiologist.

Seeing the manufacturing operations in person will help students to apply the key concepts they have been studying.
