Traffic Management

From Sarah, Principal

We continue to remind families about the importance of traffic management around the school. While we always encourage families to walk to school where possible, if you do need to drive, we ask that you park away from the school and walk safely to the yard.

If you do need to drive to school, please ensure the following:

  • Slow down
  • Do not double park next to another car
  • Do not stop in a ‘no standing’ zone
  • Do not park and leave your car in a ‘no parking' zone

We ask that parents and carers obey the road traffic signs around the school and use the crossings in place.

Please be mindful that signage at the ‘Kiss and Drop’ zone clearly states that parents are not to park and leave their cars at this point of the school.

This is a NO PARKING area between 7:30 am – 9:30 am and 3 pm to 4 pm. A ‘No Parking’ sign indicates that you may stop for two minutes in that area if you are dropping off passengers, but you must stay within 3 meters of your vehicle.

Please be aware that the park outside of the double gates at Gate 5 (garden gate) is a disabled parking spot.

This spot must be kept clear at the times stated on the sign to allow for disability access.

Stop, Look, Listen and Think

We have a number of crossings around the school, please speak with your children about following the safe road crossing procedure – STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK.

  • STOP one step back from the curb or shoulder of the road if there is no footpath.
  • LOOK in all directions for approaching traffic.
  • LISTEN in all directions for approaching traffic.
  • THINK about whether it is safe to cross the road – when the road is clear or all traffic has stopped.

When crossing, walk straight across the road. Keep LOOKING and LISTENING for traffic while crossing.

If you are in your car, please be mindful of our crossings and obey the road rules so all our students get to school safely.

Together with the above rules, we can ensure NMPS is a safe place for everyone.
