Eco Warriors - keep those bread tags coming

From Sonia, Auslan Interpreter and member of the NMPS Sustainability Community of Practice and part of the Eco Warrior Club.

Well done NMPS! In just two weeks, we have accumulated quite a few bread tags. Keep them coming!

Our bread tag collection box is located at the school front office. There is also one situated in Biz E Kidz. Ask your friends, families, and local communities to contribute. We also accept the plastic tags off potato bags.

Our Eco Warriors and I will sort through the bread tags, organising them by colour. We will then send these off to South Australia where they will be recycled in a town called Robe.

Recycling approximately 250kgs of bread tags funds an entry-level wheelchair. Some may cost more, depending on the client’s needs. Whilst it is a long process, it is definitely a worthwhile one.

Ozbreadtagsforwheelchairs.org.au is a registered Australian charity, established in 2018. To date, through community contribution, 3,876kg of bread tags have been recycled into 21 wheelchairs. This is just amazing.

Stay tuned for our next update where we will have our first collection weigh-in!
