Principal's Report

As I write this today, we are at the half-way mark of this term. I want to take this opportunity to talk about some of the great things happening in our school.

Open Mornings and Afternoons

Thank you to our teachers for opening their classrooms to welcome our families in to see the fantastic work our students are completing. These opportunities will continue to be a regular part of our program and are a great chance for our students to highlight the work they are most proud of.

School Orchestra and Choir

As part of our open morning earlier this week, our School Orchestra and Choir performed two songs for our parent community. With a huge thanks to our music and performing arts teacher, Breffni Molloy, we could not have been prouder of how our students performed. We look forward to the continued success of our music and performing arts program and value the opportunity for our students to shine in the arts.

Upcoming School Concert

Our school concert is only weeks away, with each class mastering their performance (and practising for you at home, I am sure!). This annual event showcases our arts program, and we look forward to seeing all our students shine on the stage at Robert Blackwood Hall. Tickets will be released shortly, with proceeds to go back into enhancing our music and performing arts program. As always, if any families are experiencing financial hardship, please do not hesitate to contact us here for support.

Parents Association Events

Our Parents Association are working tirelessly to support our school, hosting multiple events this term for students and families. These include the school disco, our Father’s Day Breakfast, and ‘Bogan Bingo’.  Don’t forget to purchase your 'Bogan Bingo' raffle tickets!  A huge thanks to our PA President Jess Tuszynski and the event organising teams for the work they have put into these events, as well as Steph Sim and our office team, who are leading the support from the school side.

Who has been sent to the Principal’s Office Today?!

Across this term, I have asked our teachers to send students who are shining academically to my office to share their work with me. So far, I have read some great stories, been shown ‘dream homes’ that demonstrate understanding of perimeter and area and have had students explain to me how to complete the addition algorithm. I have been acknowledging these students at our assemblies and look forward to many more visits across the remainder of the term.

Teacher Professional Learning

Our teachers meet together outside of classroom teaching time on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, with a focus on professional learning and development. This term we have a specific focus on inclusion and intervention practices, with a series of sessions supported by Department of Education (DE) regional staff. In my initial period in the school, we are also collecting feedback on our learning and wellbeing practices across the school, with the intention to identify areas for further development and improvement.

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
