During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

| Reading | Week 3 & 4: We will continue to explore a range of texts that include sounds and heart words as part of our Little Learners Love Literacy program. Students will be focusing on the graphemes for the long u sound such as u/u-e/ew/oo. They will also be participating in shared reading of some popular fairy tales, and investigating vocabulary, character development, and will demonstrate their understanding by completing comprehension activities. |
| Writing | Week 3 & 4: Students will continue to focus on writing narratives. They will be studying some popular fairy tales, to identify the problem and solution of narrative stories. Students will use this format as a guide to writing their own narratives, using the correct structure. |
| Maths | Week 3 & 4: Students will continue to develop their number fluency skills, at their individual point of need, through a range of daily activities. In week 3 students will solve multiplication problems using repeated addition, equal groups and arrays. In week 4 students will investigate division by solving equations and worded number stories. |
| Inquiry - 'What's our background' | Week 3 & 4: Students will be learning about their local community and investigate the landmarks of Melbourne. They will then explore the states and territories of Australia on a map. Students will then commence a series of lessons investigating other countries, starting with Greece. |
| Social & Emotional Learning | Week 3 & 4: Students will be learning about turning negative thoughts into positive thoughts. Students will also be learning about the importance of personal space. |
