What does my child need for Library?

Each child needs a named library bag. For some students this will be the red bag that was gifted to them at the start of Prep.

If you do not have one of these bags you can bring any reusable cloth bag. These can be bought or recycled from home.

What can my child borrow? I encourage children to borrow books that catch their interest. We want them to learn to love reading and books! This means that sometimes the book might be too hard for them to read (especially in younger years) so you may need to read it together.

I am also encouraging students to borrow non fiction books as well as fiction/picture books. This is to build their confidence in reading and using this type of book.

Borrowing limits

Books are borrowed for 2 weeks but many children bring them back each week to borrow more. If your child needs more time with a book they have, they can always ask for more time.

Prep - 1 Fiction, PLUS BONUS 1 Non-Fiction

One - 2 Fiction PLUS BONUS 1 Non-Fiction

Two - 3 Fiction, PLUS BONUS 1 Non-Fiction

Three to Six - Up to 4 Fiction and Non-Fiction books

Overdue and Lost Books

There are no fines for overdue books but your child may not be able to borrow new ones whilst they have overdue books.

We understand that books sometimes get lost. If you cannot find an overdue book please let Ms Foster know so I can remove the book from your child's name. There will be no cost. If the book turns up later, please return it to the library.

Library Helpers

We have a range of roles that can be done to help out in the library including returning books, re-shelving, displays, covering new books and cleaning the shelves. Please let me know if you are interested in more information.

Thank you and Happy Reading!
