Embarking on Excellence: Vocational Education Excursion to the WorldSkills Show

We're excited to share the incredible moments from our recent venture to the WorldSkills Show hosted at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event, a captivating celebration of skills and innovation, proved to be an inspiring journey that left us profoundly motivated and filled with renewed inspiration.

From the instant we set foot into the bustling exhibition halls, we found ourselves immersed in a world of ingenuity and craftsmanship. The atmosphere hummed with enthusiasm as young talents from across Australia competed in an array of disciplines, spanning technology, engineering, arts, and hospitality. Observing the unwavering commitment and expertise on display was genuinely awe-inspiring.

Our class had the privilege of engaging with passionate participants, exchanging ideas, and exploring the latest advancements in various industries. From state-of-the-art robotics to intricate culinary creations, each corner of the event highlighted the potential of human skill mastery.

The WorldSkills Show also offered us the following opportunities:

  • Try out a number of skills and trades at the Try’aSkill booths
  • Learn just how many career pathways are available to us via vocational education and training
  • Witness the best trainees and apprentices in Australia compete for gold
  • Talk to the employers, training organisations and skills organisations who build opportunities in trades and skills
  • Hear from industry leaders and WorldSkills success stories
  • Get the information we need to make informed decisions about your education and career

Looking back on this event, we're reminded of the limitless possibilities that emerge when dedication and passion for our trades and apprenticeships converge with skill!

Year 12 Legal Studies excursion

On Monday 21 August our Year 12 Legal Studies class ventured to the CBD for an excursion which provided important context and experiential experiences relating to the Year 12 Legal Studies curriculum, including the responsibilities of key personnel (judges, jury and legal practitioners) in criminal and civil trials, criminal sanctions and their purposes, the roles of the Houses of Parliament in law-making and the representative nature of parliament.

At the Old Melbourne Gaol the students participated in a courtroom drama role play (culpable driving case study). This was followed by a visit to Lander & Rogers (a leading Australian civil law firm) for their "Landers World of Work" program - a careers-oriented seminar including an office tour. The excursion ended with a visit to Victorian Parliament (including tour and role play experience).   The students were really engaged with all the activities. We even had a surprise meeting with MP Paul Hamer at the entry to Parliament, who gave us a tour and Q&A himself before the program started.

YEAR 12 GLADIATORS

The Year 12 Gladiator Competition was a huge success. Year 12 Gladiators is a lunchtime activity held every Friday during Term 3. All Year 12 students and Staff were asked to form teams of 4-6 people. Each team entered a team name and showed up each week for a different challenge in different locations. Each week the groups didn’t know what to expect and that was part of the fun! We had 16 groups go into battle each week. Challenges included relays, bean bag toss, gnome painting, trivia, riddle challenge, scavenger hunt, The Masked Dancer and Team Terminator.  It was a wonderful way to end the week across Term 3 and give the Year 12 students a chance to collaborate with their peers and have a break from studying. Weekly scores and ladders were emailed each week and there was a lot of competitive banter going on. The winners will be announced at the Year 12 final assembly during week 2.
