Inquiry Term Three

This term, the concept at St Michael's for learning is "Adventure."  Inquiry learning throughout the school will cover parts of the Geography Curriculum.

In Prep, students will be investigating the significance of Place and identify how people are connected to different places.

In One/Two, students will find out why where people come from can impact our daily lives and  community

In Three/Four, students will discover;

  • places they could adventure to,
  • world heritage sites and tourist sites around the world and
  • animals that may be endangered and what they can do to help.

They will also focus on features and places on the map of Australia.

In Five/Six, students will discover how  places, people and cultures differ across the world.

We are looking forward to an adventure of learning in Inquiry!

Problem Solving In Maths

Maths learning at St Michael's has taken on a big Problem Solving focus. The One/Two students were asked to estimate how long one metre is and came up with some great strategies to show their estimations using concrete materials. Problem-solving allows students to develop understanding and explain the processes used to arrive at solutions, rather than remembering and applying a set of procedures.

Have a look at all the wonderful ways the students could show one metre!

NAPLAN

The 2023 NAPLAN results have been sent home to our year three and year five students this week. NAPLAN tests are one aspect of each school's assessment and reporting process and do not replace the extensive, ongoing assessments made by teachers about each student's performance.

Please read the information below for more information about the report cards.
