Please Tell Us What You Think

Earlier this week,  each family would have received an invitation to participate in the Annual Online  Parent/Guardian/Caregiver Survey. Traditionally, we have provided the actual survey in paper format, however, this year we are asking families to use the log on details provided in the letter to complete the questions.

This survey is conducted by the Department of Education and is designed to help our school gain an understanding about our families' perceptions relating to school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. The results from this survey will assist us to continue to strive to better our already great school.

This survey is now open and we ask that a parent from each family please log in to complete the survey (it should only take about 20 minutes); the responses are anonymous. The survey is open until Friday September 8th.

If we get a  100% response rate, we will reward each of our students and our families a yummy treat to show our appreciation for your time. As always, if you have any questions about the survey (or have misplaced the letter that was sent home with the link and PIN), please contact Lisa.

Kind Donations

Last week we were so very fortunate to be gifted a box of brand new books from the Terry

Floyd Foundation. There is such a wide range of titles and genres, and our kids are very excited to begin reading them.

We also are lucky to be gifted a box of produce each month from the foundation, this is put to good use as part of our weekly breakfast club program and to provide healthy fruit snacks to our students during the day.

We feel very loved and are truly grateful to Darryl Floyd and all at the Terry Floyd Foundation.

School Photos

Our annual school photos will be taken this morning. Thank you to all families who returned their orders and payments or arranged payment.  We will let you know when they are printed and ready to send home.

Playground

Stage One is now complete and has been in use for several days. We are now working with our students to tweak the design of Stage Two (making sure it incorporates all of the features they want and it caters for students of all ages and abilities)  and to choose the all important colours.

Once we have an installation date for Stage Two, we will organise a weekend working bee and invite families along for a BBQ and deconstruction session to remove the existing structures. Stay tuned.

Melbourne Bound- Friday August 11th

This excursion is tomorrow. A reminder to be at the Bendigo Train Station by 7.40am at

the latest. Students will need to wear full school uniform and bring a coat (it is Melbourne, after all). Students should bring along a small bag/backpack with their food for the day and a drink. Please be mindful, when packing that we will be doing a great deal of walking and students will need to carry their own bag- so nothing heavy please. We will return to the station at  4.56pm and students should be picked up from inside the main building. We are looking forward to a fun day out.

Athletics- Year 3-6

Our Year 3-6 students will compete in the Campaspe Small School Cluster Athletics Carnival on Monday (August 14th). This event is being held at the Bendigo Athletics Centre. Families who have not yet given permission  are asked to log into uEducateus before Friday.

Good luck to our competitors, I am confident they will compete with maximum effort, determination and display good sportsmanship, representing our school extremely well.

Bunnings BBQ

On Sunday September 3rd we are hosting a fundraising sausage sizzle at the Epsom Bunnings. Last year, this was ran by a small group of staff with 100% of funds raised being dedicated to Stage 1 of our new playground.

We would dearly love to have another successful fundraising event and use the funds to contribute towards new edging and soft-fall for our new play space.

We would be very appreciative if we could have some assistance on the day to help with cooking and serving- even just an hour of your time, would be fantastic and mean that our staff do not have to be there all day. If you are able to help us out, please contact Lisa or Bree and let us know what time you would be available. Please note, due to Bunnings Safety Regulations, no children are allowed to be in the BBQ area or playing in the carpark, so we ask anyone who is available to help to make arrangements for their children. If you are not able to help on the day it would still be great if you could encourage friends and family to come along and purchase a sausage or two.

Lions Public Speaking Competition

Last Sunday, Link competed at the District Final of the Lions Club Junior Public Speaking Competition (after winning through to this section in the local competition). Link delivered his main speech on the topic of An Amazing World Record - choosing the world's most powerful water gun. He also had to prepare and deliver a short speech on a topic which was given to him on the day; the topic asked him to explain what world record he would like to break- given the chance. Link chose to build the largest Leggo Tower, single-handed; he spoke well on this topic and even managed to get the audience to laugh along with him. A huge congratulations to Link for getting this far in the competition, what an amazing opportunity for him as he heads off to secondary school.
