Tree Day 2023- Sunday, July 30th

Melbourne Girls' College in conjunction with the Australian Conservation Foundation Inner Melbourne Branch and supported by the City of Yarra are hosting a community planting day on Sunday 30th of July to celebrate the biodiversity work that is being carried out by volunteers to restore this special wildlife corridor along the banks of the Birrarung. On the 27th of July 2018, members of the Wurundjeri Narrup team ceremonially carved a shield from a River Red Gum on this site to mark the cultural significance of the biodiversity project. Come along and participate in the Welcome to country and smoking ceremony underneath this significant Scar Tree before making your own contribution to the revegetation project. Learn from MGC students about the biological and cultural significance of the plants in the area and the aims of the community-led revegetation project!
