News from the Learning Community
Prep Learning Community
In Maths Fluency this term, we have been focusing on addition and subtraction. We have been learning about the different symbols and how we can make number sentences.
We have been having lots of fun exploring and playing with the White Rose app on the iPad's. This is helping us develop our addition and subtraction skills with short, sharp games and questions.
We have also been focusing on a daily number and how we can make that number. Looking at the number as a whole and as part, part, whole. We have been using different concrete manipulatives to help us explore these skills.
We've also been enjoying dancing to lots of counting songs and having lots of fun in our learning community!
Year 6 Learning Community
During Term 2, Year 5 and 6 students enjoyed a thrilling three-day camp at YMCA in Anglesea, where they faced fears and embraced challenges through activities like archery, bike riding, the Vertical Climb, and the beloved Big Swing. Camp cooking, canoeing, radio rogaine, and initiative games promoted teamwork and camaraderie. The delicious food, including Spaghetti Bolognese and Roast Chicken, added to the joy. The students expressed gratitude to the YMCA and Armstrong Creek staff for making the camp experience unforgettable.
Specialist Awards
As always, in our Year Level Assembly last week, our Specialists presented their award! Take a listen to see which lucky classes received it this time around!
Year 5-6 SRC Brighthouse Early Learning Center Visit
Last week, our Year 5/6 SRC walked down to Brighthouse Early Learning Center to read their favourite books to the 4 year old kindergarten students. They certainly made a wonderful impression on some little learners, who were thoroughly engaged with their storytelling. Well done to our fabulous Year 5/6 SRC representatives, Olivia B, Max, Billie, Cush, Kelly, Elaina, Alana and Celeste for being such wonderful role models for our school.
