Wow! What a fantastic production!
The Besen Centre was filled with excitement on Monday and Tuesday nights as the students arrived to perform their items for the whole school production of ‘Rock Bottom’.
The students arrived with huge smiles on their faces, ready to perform. There was lots of action backstage as the students put on their costumes and helped each other to organise themselves into their lines. There was lots of laughter and a few nerves as the students waited on stage for the curtain to be raised.
The Grade 1 students performed ‘The Flintstones’ as a great introduction to ‘Rock Bottom’ with the Grade 2 students ensuring everyone was moving and grooving to ‘Crocodile Rock’.
Here are some comments about how the students felt on the night.- Una 1JT – Everyone was great and awesome. I liked when it was dramatic and when they said “Tequila!” Tequila is an alcohol made of cactus.
- Jacey 1JT – I enjoyed watching the people dance. I like watching the performance from the balcony.
- Sienna 1JT – We got to perform on stage first when the curtains went up. I like performing with Ingrid.
- Domenico 1MC - I liked standing at the front of the stage when I was singing. I like singing the Flintstones because I like the stone age.
- Sebastian 1MC - I like singing to the audience because it was fun.
- Helena 1MC - When I saw my sister on the stage I felt happy because she told the audience a joke.
- Lydia 1MC – I was singing and dancing to the Flintstones. I liked seeing my parents in the audience.
- Makayla 1MC – I love singing and dancing in front of my mum and dad.
- Alanna 1MC – I liked singing in front of all of the audience and seeing my mum and dad.
- Nadia 2LP - I enjoyed Rock Bottom and the songs in Rock Bottom. I also liked the performance. I liked people singing and dancing.
- Ayesha 2LP - I enjoyed seeing the play. It was very lovely. I liked singing and dancing. I liked the moves that we did to Crocodile Rock. It was fun to dance.
- Olivia 2DF – I really enjoyed singing and dancing and watching the production. The songs were great and the moves were good. Crocodile Rock was a very catchy song.
Following the production the students were asked to write a reflection. The three prompts were:
- Something they enjoyed the most.
- Something they found challenging.
- Something to demonstrate that they were a collaborator.
All the teachers were so proud of the students as they did their best to sing and dance so well.
