Mrs Sue-Ann Gavin, Director of TREE

What lovely weather we’ve had to welcome us back to school. During the break our Windermere Campus has flourished and literally grown from strength to strength. Our beautiful market garden has tomatoes, pumpkins, spinach, beans, leafy greens and zucchinis just about ready to harvest. This times perfectly with our Year 8 PDHPE Nutrition Unit which is a continuation from their studies last year.  These students will devise a devise a nutritional menu that utilises the farms produce to conclude their study.

Our Hospitality students have already started to explore our community by utilising Huntley Berry Farm.  The produce that they harvested is being used in this week's staff lunch service.  Our ongoing support of the Uniting Church Hot Meals Outreach Program will also benefit from these local goodies this week.

The Year 10 'Be Heard' class will return to Windermere this week to introduce our ducklings to their new home on the dam, built by the class last year.  The ducklings, along with the baby chicks have finished their time in the poultry nursery and are being introduced to their new homes and family members.

Our Junior School students have already started to explore learning opportunities at Windermere.  Year 4 visited last week and undertook a mindfulness routine and completed a scavenger hunt. Each of our Junior School year groups will have fortnightly scheduled lessons at Windermere.  These will vary from week to week and encompass a variety of different outcomes and curriculum areas. Year 6 completed their Windermere Safety Passport at the farm today and all year groups will earn their passport over the coming weeks.

As always we look forward to hearing from our wonderful community if you feel you have an area of interest, passion or expertise and you think that our students would benefit from.
