From the Head of Senior School

Mrs Sue-Ann Gavin

It has been a joy to start the school year with so many exciting ‘news’.  Seeing and meeting our new senior students and their families last week was a wonderful way to commence the year. I extend a warm welcome to our new Kinross Wolaroi families. I can’t wait to see these students embrace the opportunities here at School.

Of course, the other substantial ‘new’ is our modern and contemporary uniform. I can see the pride that this new uniform instills in our students and have loved seeing our ‘non new’ students take up the opportunity to wear it. The students look so smart and comfortable.

I spoke to our students at our commencement assembly about the need for us to press the 'reset button' and to revisit our expectations.

We have identified five areas that we value as key to success for our students becoming lifelong learners and respectful and active members of our school and the broader community.

These areas are:

  • Engagement and effort
  • Behaviour
  • Homework
  • Use of mobile phones and devices
  • Uniform

I have been so impressed by the positive responses from our students as we continue to ensure that these areas remain a priority focus.

There is a lot to be looking forward to in 2022. Our students have an abundance of opportunities to explore, and I would be asking that we all encourage them to take up something new, step outside that comfort zone and be brave enough to give it a go.  I know I am certainly looking forward to my own learning journey as I take up the opportunity as the Acting Head of Senior School.
