Growing Seeds in the classroom

The Tiny Seed Challenge!

This week all Sustainability reps came together to start growing seeds in the classroom. Each class received a jar and 3 beans to germinate in their classrooms. Growing plants in the classroom  will encourage planning, initiative, and organizational skills which will result in us being able to plant the baby beans into the school's veggie garden for all of the school to enjoy.

The only question left is…which class will grow the biggest seeds?

Waste Free Wednesday Lunch

Children are encouraged to bring a waste free lunch on Wednesdays.  They can then enter themselves into a lucky dip each week which will be drawn at assembly.

Waste free means only packing items that can be composted or recycled and that won’t end up in the garbage bin.

That means, no plastic wrap, no foil, no zip lock bags and no packaged foods.

BYO Container

You can now pack your own container and utensils when ordering pasta, salad and nachos from the school canteen.  This will all help in reducing our rubbish at St Finbar’s.

This can be any container and utensils you have at home which could be used regularly for school orders.

Reusable Lunch bags can be ordered from the uniform shop
